The infrastructure
The heart of the system on which MediaStreamer is based is placed in I.Net webfarm in Rome (Settecamini zone). The structure is characterized from a high technological standard and, thanks to the redundant link from 100Mbps that guarantees the traffic towards the MIX and towards British Telecom Housing Center, it benefits of elevating trasmissive capacity. The guaranteed availability is attested around to 99.99% of the band on 99.9% of the time.
The net apparatuses, completely based on Cisco hardware, are redundant so as to supply to every serveur a double net interface on different paths. The services are subdivided by typology on several subnets and they are protected by a Cisco PIX firewall.
Central servers are integrated by several delocalized points of
distribution, located in international webfarms, often based on
virtualized technologies, in order to infinitely increase the
transmissive ability and to improve the geographic breakdown of
the net.
